Job Description

Mō te tūnga | About our Role:

We are seeking a colleague to join our friendly Operating Theatre in the role of Health Care Assistant. This position works as part of the Theatre team, assisting with the maintenance of a tidy and safe theatre environment, ensuring surgical supplies are available when needed and supporting Nurses and Anaesthetic Technicians. 

This is a full time (1 FTE) position working rostered hours.  Our Theatres generally operate Monday to Friday 0700 to 2100 with occasional Saturday roster.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing – Healthcare Assistance Strand (Level 3)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your style to different needs
  • Foster a positive team environment
  • Be able to prioritise and work without supervision
  • Flexible to meet the needs of our service
  • Have methodical and meticulous attention to detail
  • Have basic computer skills
  • This position involves standing, lifting, assisting with moving patients and pushing heavy trolleys
  • Previous hospital, rest home, cleaning or stock management experience would be an advantage.
