Job Description

Mō te tūnga | About our Role:

We have a great opportunity to join our friendly Sterile Sciences team in this full time position.  You will be assisting in both the sterilisation department and endoscopy theatre and processing rooms.  The main duties of the role include the decontamination and sterilization of equipment.  There is plenty of variety in the role and because of the increasing variety of surgeries we perform at St George’s, there is plenty of scope for you to develop your expertise.

The successful applicant will need to be available for rostered shifts.  We endeavour to run a 4-week rotating roster to support your work life balance. 

Desired Skills and Experience

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Essential skills/experience for the role:

  • Hold the Certificate of Sterilizing Technology (either level 3 or level 4)
  • Member of the NZSSA (Sterile Services Association of New Zealand) - preferred
  • Have proven ability to work without supervision
  • Work well within a team
  • Be able to work flexible hours over a four-week roster
  • Have methodical and meticulous attention to detail
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • This position involves standing, lifting and pushing heavy trolleys
